When a wet rotor circulator pump failed to operate on a radiant floor heating project, the culprit was simple: the pump had been installed with the motor shaft vertical because the installer thought it looked better. All wet rotor pumps must be installed with the shaft horizontal, as the bearings aren't designed for thrust loads.
